Care at the Chemist

This is a scheme that allows you to obtain medicines and advice for certain illnesses from your local pharmacy without having to go to your doctors first. If you do not pay for your prescriptions you will not have to pay for any medicines supplied through the scheme. Please contact your pharmacy for details of which illnesses can be treated and which medications can be issued.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
